Still Photography

Choosing film

Look at the ISO (International Standards Organization) number. Low numbers mean the film is less sensitive to light; high numbers mean film is more sensitive. Outdoors, there’s lots of light, so use a less sensitive film such as ISO 100 or 200. Indoors has less light, so use a flash and ISO 400 or 800.

 

Steady camera

Stand with your feet shoulder length apart and one foot in front of the other. Keep your elbows in against your sides and hold the camera with both hands. Press the shutter button gently.

 

Action shots

To "freeze" the action, such as a child on a swing or jumping up and down, press the shutter button just before the apex of the movement.
